When I think about all of the woman in my life and what they have taught me I think that my Nana gave me my strength. Stand up for what you believe in and be who you are, even if it makes other people uncomfortable sometimes. You are the one that has to live with yourself, not them. Be proud of your accomplishments and learn from your fails. Keep moving forward, always. She was a woman who challenged the conventions of her time, travelled the world, and was an amazing square dancer.
I feel so blessed that I was able to talk to her a few short days before she died. She was able to tell me how proud she was and give me one of her suitcases to take with me on my world travels. I loved my Nana so much and she knew that. She may not be here anymore to teach me how to "tat" or talk to me about my new adventure but that's ok. This was just her temporary home. She was just passing through this life to leave her mark on my heart and move on. As she would say "it is what it is"
